Dallas, TX (August 23, 2009) Christi Graham, a sales associate at the Lakewood/White Rock Lake office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, will offer a free homebuyer class from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., at Central Market located at 5750 East Lovers Lane. Ms. Graham is coordinating the homebuyers’ class for potential home purchasers with the assistance of Chad Bowen of Coldwell Banker Home Loans.
Ms. Graham says, “The November 30 deadline for closing a home purchase to receive the $8,000 federal tax credit is quickly approaching. Homebuyers who hope to earn this should be in the purchasing process.”
Ms. Graham says she decided to conduct the homebuyers’ school after hearing her son and his friends — all of whom were leasing apartments — asking questions about the tax credit. According to Ms. Graham, “They didn’t have a lot of information, and much of what they had was incorrect. I addressed the advantages of owning rather than leasing, as well as investing in equity instead of paying rent.”
The class includes information on how to purchase a home, overcome credit glitches and take advantage of the $8,000 federal tax credit. Prospective buyers attending the class will have an opportunity to ask questions and have one-on-one conversations with Ms. Graham and Mr. Bowen.

She is an ideal presenter of the homebuyers’ class,” says Kathy Darrow, branch manager of the Lakewood/White Rock Lake office. “With Chad on hand to provide mortgage and credit information, this will be a terrific opportunity for anyone interested in achieving home ownership in an easy, user-friendly manner,” says Ms. Darrow.
First-time homebuyers purchasing a home are eligible for the tax credit. The home purchase must occur between January 1 and November 30, 2009. The purchase date is the date the closing occurs and the property title transfers to the home owner. A limited exception exists for certain contracts for deed purchases and installment sale purchases.
