Eighteen volunteers donated blood to Carter Blood Care at a community blood drive held on August 11, sponsored by the Flower Mound office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage – Dallas/Fort Worth (CBDFW). The all-day community event combined a computer recycling drive utilizing the disposal services of Computer Crushers.
“I am so proud of our agent volunteers and blood donors who helped make this event possible. The support from Carter Blood Care staff was fantastic. They made sure the donation process was easy and quick. Having an efficient staff coordinating the blood drive was critical,” said Melody Kruse, branch manager of the Flower Mound office.
Donors included sales associates from surrounding offices, vendors associated with Coldwell Banker and citizens from the Flower Mound area. Three first-time donors were among those participating. Sales associates and staff brought home computers and keyboards for recycling. According to Kruse, “It was a learning experience to see how computers are crushed.”
The Flower Mound office will continue the computer recycling program. “Residents may continue to drop off computers at our office until the end of August. Due to hazardous materials disposal, the cost to recycle monitors is $10. Hard drives are recycled for free. We feel donating blood and recycling computers are important issues to the people we do business with every day — homebuyers and sellers in North Texas. Donating blood can save lives and recycling computer equipment protects the planet and our environment for future generations,” said Kruse.
The Flower Mound office is located in the heart of the Golden Triangle of Dallas, Fort Worth and Denton in one of the fastest growing suburban communities in the southwest.
