2008 Realtor of the Year Tyler Wood Advises “Remodel & Enjoy Now, Sell for More Later” View All

Frisco, TX (March 15, 2009) – Good Realtor office managers constantly search for good ideas for sales associates, according to Judy Patane, branch manager of the Frisco office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage – Dallas/Fort Worth (CBDFW).

Her office recently was named the number one branch in CBDFW’s 19-office market area, in part because she is vigilant about developing good ideas to help customers in a challenging market.

“I want to be sure each of my 55 sales associates is armed with the best information, strategies and tactics and the best solutions for our buyers and sellers,” says Ms. Patane. To that end, she recently invited Tyler Wood, award-winning founder of Home Artisan Authority, to advise her associates with alternative ideas, especially if their sellers are hesitant to put their homes on the market right now.

“We all know the very best homes on the market — those that have been updated and immaculately maintained — sell first,” says Ms. Patane. “If there are six homes on the block offered at approximately the same price, the one that has been renovated, updated, remodeled or repaired to the greatest extent will always go first.”

Mr. Wood, 2007 and 2008 Remodeler of the Year for the Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas, advised Frisco associates to tell their home sellers who may be hesitant to list their homes to “remodel now, enjoy now and sell for more later”. A highly acclaimed remodeler, Mr. Wood was recently named one of 12 Top Remodeler Entrepreneurs in the January issue of Professional Remodeler magazine. His five-year-old company handles major remodeling from Southlake to east Dallas and from Highland Park to Celina and Prosper.

“Home remodeling continues to grow during the slower housing market for more than one reason,” says Mr. Wood. “Baby boomers continue to have a big influence on the residential market as they reach their 50s and 60s and want to remain in their family home and familiar neighborhoods,” says Mr. Wood.

“The trend is so big that the National Association of Home Builders has created special training and a designation for builders and remodelers who want to serve that part of the market — Certified Aging in Place (CAPS).” NAHB’s 50+ Council and its CAPS program help members meet the growing demands of home owners and buyers.
