Plano, TX, (September 13, 2009) - Janis Smith, a 22-year real estate veteran at the Plano office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage – Dallas/Fort Worth (CBDFW), has been named to the board of directors of the prestigious Council of Residential Specialists, the largest affiliate under the National Association of Realtors (NAR).
The two-year appointment was announced at the recent national Certified Residential Specialists (CRS) meetings in Washington, D.C. Currently, there are more than 34,000 active CRS Designees which is less than 4 percent of the NAR membership.
“The elite CRS organization is made up of experienced Realtors who have completed advanced professional training and achieved a high level of sales performance history,” says John DiGiovanni, Branch Manager of the Plano office of CBDFW.
CRS’s demanding requirements include completed advanced study in technology, listing, selling and financing. “Because CRS members are required to hold membership in local, state and national associations, they have unique insight into trends and other market information essential to the home buying and selling process,” says Mr. DiGiovanni.
On the CRS national level, Ms. Smith also is a member of the Nominating Committee and the Membership Committee. A past president of the Lone Star Texas CRS Chapter, Ms. Smith continues to serve on the state and regional board of directors. Ms. Smith says her greatest honor was being voted Texas Certified Residential Specialist of the Year in 2002 by her peers.
Additional professional designations held by Ms. Smith include the Accredited Buyer Representation, Graduate Realtor Institute, Seniors Real Estate Specialist and the e-PRO Certification.
A Previews International Property specialist for Coldwell Banker, Ms. Smith has earned several designations recognized by the company. She has been a star performer on the relocation team.
